To facilitate smoother connectivity to the Noida International Airport, the project to link the Yamuna Expressway with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (KGP) is set to be completed by July. Approximately 75 percent of the work on the interchange—being constructed to connect these two expressways—has already been finished.
The NHAI is overseeing the construction of the interchange designed to bridge the two expressways. Located at the 10-kilometer mark from the Yamuna Expressway’s ‘Zero Point’ (near Jaganpur and Afzalpur), the interchange features the construction of eight loops to facilitate the connection between the two expressways. Of these, four loops are being built for exit ramps and four for entry ramps. The construction of these loops has now reached its final stages. Once the two expressways are connected, residents of Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Meerut will no longer need to travel via Pari Chowk to head towards Agra.
60 Hectares of Land Acquired Earlier
The proposal for the interchange was approved by the Uttar Pradesh State Cabinet in April 2025. Prior to this, the acquisition of 60 hectares of land required for the project had already been completed. Construction work on the interchange commenced in July 2025, with a target set to complete the project within one year. The NHAI selected the company ‘NCR EP Private Limited’ to execute the construction. The project is estimated to incur a total cost of approximately ₹222.03 crore.
Project Stalled for Several Years
Construction work on the interchange was first initiated in 2023. The Authority had entrusted the responsibility for its construction to a private contractor. The then-Chief Secretary of the state laid the foundation stone for the project. The initial estimated cost for the construction was ₹122 crore; however, shortly thereafter, the developer submitted a revised estimate seeking an additional ₹22 crore to cover the cost of earthwork (soil) required for the construction, causing the work to come to a halt. Due to this financial dispute regarding the additional ₹22 crore, construction remained stalled for several months. To Be Completed by July
YEIDA CEO RK Singh stated that the work to connect the Yamuna Expressway with the KGP will be completed by July. Construction is proceeding at a rapid pace. The laying of the bituminous layer on the loop has now commenced. Upon its completion, residents across several districts will benefit.
