After a long wait of 15 years, buyers have finally started receiving possession of their homes at the Amrapali Verona Heights project in Greater Noida West.
For homebuyers at Amrapali’s Verona Heights project—located in Greater Noida West, Uttar Pradesh—the long wait has finally culminated in a moment of joy. For the approximately 5,000 buyers whose investments were stalled in this project, this news comes as nothing short of a major relief.
To mark this occasion, a puja ceremony was organized within the project premises, during which keys to their homes were handed over to 11 buyers in the presence of the Apartment Owners’ Association (AOA).
A Long 15-Year Wait
The flat buyers of Vorona Heights had been waiting for their homes for 15 years. Many had booked their flats back in 2013–14, but their dreams remained unfulfilled due to the builder’s financial instability and the project’s stalled status. During this period, the buyers were forced to live in rented accommodations while shouldering the burden of EMIs. With the handover of possession, a visible glow of happiness was clearly evident on their faces.
A New Direction Through Supreme Court Intervention
The status of the project took a turn when, following the intervention of the Supreme Court, the responsibility of completing the unfinished project was entrusted to the NBCC. In 2019, when the NBCC conducted a site survey under the supervision of a Court Receiver, only a few unfinished towers were visible on the ground. Subsequently, construction work was accelerated and pushed forward at a rapid pace.
NOCs Issued for 3,500 Flats
NOCs for possession are now being issued to approximately 3,500 flat buyers. Finishing work is currently underway on the remaining 1,500 flats and is expected to be completed within the next three months. According to NBCC officials, these flats will be handed over to the Court Receiver by June.
Project Being Completed in a Phased Manner
NBCC officials state that all of Amrapali’s unfinished projects are being completed in a phased manner. The sites are being continuously monitored to ensure that construction work is completed on schedule and to avoid any delays for the buyers.
