The Noida Airport project is giving significant impetus to the development of Gautam Buddha Nagar. This article highlights the airport’s upcoming flight operations, as well as the establishment of an International Film City, a Medical Device Park, an Education Hub, and food processing industries in the region.
With the advent of the Noida International Airport, Gautam Buddha Nagar has truly picked up the pace of development. The momentum of growth—spanning from Noida all the way to Jewar in the YEIDA region—has emerged as a model not only for other districts within the state but also for other states across the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already inaugurated the first phase of the Noida International Airport, which stands as Asia’s largest airport. Within the next two months, flights are scheduled to begin taking off from here, connecting the region to various cities across the nation.
By the end of the year, with the commencement of international flight operations, Gautam Buddha Nagar will be directly connected to all major cities across the globe. The region is poised to make its mark not only on the global map of passenger travel but also within the global cargo and logistics landscape. This will facilitate enhanced access for products from North India to reach global markets.
The Film City: A New Magnet for Attraction
The film industry has long served as the primary source of entertainment for the Indian populace. The magic of Mumbai—the “City of Dreams”—holds a captivating sway over people across the entire nation; however, this very allure of cinema is now set to draw the youth toward Gautam Buddha Nagar. In Sector 21 of the YEIDA region, filmmaker-director Boney Kapoor, in collaboration with the Bhutani Group, is set to establish an International Film City.
The Film City is slated for completion within three years, at which point the familiar sounds of “Lights, Camera, Action!” will begin to echo throughout the region. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, this Film City will house comprehensive facilities covering every stage from pre-production to post-production. Beyond serving as a hub for entertainment, it is also poised to become a significant source of employment opportunities for the youth.
The MDP: Strengthening ‘Make in India’
Efforts are currently underway to foster self-reliance in India’s healthcare sector by manufacturing medical devices domestically, thereby aiming to reduce the overall cost of medical treatment within the country. North India’s sole Medical Device Park (MDP) is currently being developed across a sprawling 350-acre site within Sector 28 of the YEIDA region.
Plots have already been allotted to 101 distinct units within the park, and one unit has already commenced production operations. The electronic-based medical devices manufactured here are expected to play a pivotal role in significantly lowering the cost of treating critical ailments, including cancer.
Education Hub to Produce Professionals for the Industry
Indian talent has already made its mark globally, establishing a reputation for excellence worldwide. Renowned educational institutions from across the country have now set foot in the YEIDA region to cultivate highly qualified professionals for the local industries. Several institutions—including JBM University, NMIMS (Narsee Monjee), and FORE School—as well as an American university, have already acquired land to establish their campuses.
Admissions at JBM University are expected to commence starting from the upcoming academic session. Sector 22E is poised to establish its identity as a premier ‘Education Hub,’ emerging as a major center for higher learning following in the footsteps of Noida and Greater Noida. Students from across the nation and around the globe are expected to flock here to pursue higher education.
Food Processing Industry to Boost Farmers’ Incomes
As the industrial sector gains momentum, a pathway is simultaneously being paved to boost the incomes of local farmers. Through the food processing industry, farmers’ produce—such as fruits and vegetables—will gain access not only to domestic markets but also to the global stage, thereby directly fostering economic prosperity for the farmers. In addition to Patanjali’s Food Park, Innova Food Park is also in the process of setting up its food processing unit in the region.
