Acting on a proposal from the Ministry of Railways, the Greater Noida Authority has initiated preparations to acquire additional land. Initially, 39 acres of land were slated for acquisition at this site. This allocation has now been increased by 99 acres, which will facilitate the construction of approximately 13 passenger platforms.
Bodaki is being developed to serve as an alternative to the Anand Vihar Terminal. In response to the Ministry of Railways’ proposal, the Greater Noida Authority has commenced preparations for the acquisition of this additional land. The original plan involved acquiring 39 acres; this figure has now been augmented by 99 acres, enabling the construction of approximately 13 passenger platforms.
With the commencement of operations at the Noida Airport, the volume of passenger traffic in this region is also expected to rise significantly in the coming years. Consequently, plans are underway to integrate this area with bus and metro services as well. The construction of the proposed terminal will eliminate the need for passengers from Ghaziabad, Noida, and Greater Noida to travel to Delhi or Anand Vihar. This will also help alleviate the mounting pressure of overcrowding at New Delhi and Anand Vihar stations. Furthermore, there are plans to establish direct connectivity between this terminal and the Noida Airport, Jewar, and Yamuna City.
CEO NG Ravi Kumar stated that the new plan will require approximately 138 acres of land in this area. Consequently, the process of acquiring land across seven neighboring villages is being initiated. Due to the revised redevelopment plan for Bodaki, approximately 250 acres of land need to be procured to provide land-for-land compensation to those displaced by the project.
The Authority will establish new compensation rates for this purpose, based on which the land acquisition process will be finalized.
It has been decided that work on this project will proceed as Phase 2 of the Multimodal Logistics Hub currently being developed within the Integrated Industrial Township. The tendering process for Phase 1 is already underway. Work is expected to commence shortly across a 358-acre site—with an investment of approximately ₹1,700 crore—executed with the assistance of a private company.
Land to be Acquired in These Villages
According to information provided by the Authority, land in seven villages will be acquired under Section 20A of the Railways (Amendment) Act, 2008. The acquisition process has already begun in the villages of Chamrawali, Bodaki, Dadri, Tilapta Karanwas, Pali, Palla, and Chamrawali Ramgarh. This land acquisition is expected to impact over a thousand farmers. Consequently, they will be given the option to choose between monetary compensation and an alternative land allotment.
ISBT to be Developed Here as Well
Much like the Anand Vihar hub, an Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) is also slated for development here, alongside the railway station. Metro connectivity will also be available from this location, extending from the Aqua Metro depot to Bodaki. As a result, passengers will have access to integrated rail, metro, and bus facilities within a single complex. The facility will now feature 12 to 13 platforms and approximately 63 yard lines. This infrastructure will enable over 100 trains—including the Vande Bharat and Superfast Express services—to make scheduled stops at this station.
Railway Chairman Overhauls Entire Plan
According to officials, a meeting was recently held between railway authorities and representatives from the UP Government and the Greater Noida Authority. During this meeting, the Railway Chairman suggested that, in the future, there would be insufficient capacity remaining at the Anand Vihar Terminal to accommodate the halting of new trains. Consequently, he proposed that an alternative solution be sought. Greater Noida has emerged as a viable option for this purpose. Instead of merely establishing a freight hub here, the site should also be developed to facilitate passenger services. Following this decision, work has commenced on the plan to develop the Greater Noida Terminal.
The Greater Noida Terminal will serve as a connectivity hub, integrating not only rail services but also bus and metro networks. In the coming years, this region is poised to evolve into a major transit hub and a focal point for industrial investment. Plans are underway to rapidly execute the widening of the 105-meter road and the development of a Multi-Modal Transit Hub at Bodaki. The land acquisition process is set to begin shortly, and the procedure for revising compensation rates is already being initiated. As part of this initiative, affected farmers will be allotted plots equivalent to six percent of their land within developed sectors.
